If your a developer I would recommend spending a portion of your downtime or much needed break (think, head has been in the code to long and your starting to over analyze your logic) scouring the web for little coding gems. This will do a few things:
- If you find something cool it may inspire you on your current project, or
- Integrate nicely into a prior project
- or at the very least be something cool to put in your toolkit
Also you may find a place in the development community to share YOUR ideas and better someone else idea, benefiting the whole community.
When I find something I like I will usually try and follow them on twitter or check back as I am sure they will have other amazing Idea in the future.
This is exactly what I did when I found a very simple neat little CSS trick from Chris Coyier. This effect is very cool and has potential to do an amazing job with spotlights within a given design.
Lets explore this more in a simple demo based on the original code found at: http://jsfiddle.net/chriscoyier/pVsKe/1/
